April 6th, 2008 was a date that will not live in infamy- just shrouded in mystery. The flash and boom which caused so much consternation has yet to be explained. Not that explanations did not abound. First the Air National Guard had nothing to do with it. Then it was a meteor exploding! Then it was earth quake lights! Then the Air National Guard did take the blame, though radio communication reports indicated their F16's were on the ground.

And what about the reported aircraft down and debris field that was first denied and then according to witnesses showed up in northern Tipton County; attended by some 40 plus law enforcement, emergency vehicles and even reported helicopters? What about the report of the presence of two (count them two) Wal-mart 18 wheel vans on back roads near the scene?

Regardless of the uproar and all the questions that remain unanswered, I would here-by like to commend the following MUFON members for their unrestricting time, expense and expertise in the extensive field investigations which have been conducted.

Glen Means             State Section Director
Crystal Means      Data Recorder
Debbie Kauble     Field Investigator
Stewart Hill          Chief Investigator Case Management
Roger Sugden     Independent Investigator

As a group these folks investigated reports, followed up leads (some erroneous), performed aerial and ground photography, assisted the media in their coverage, made a blanket ground search for unreported witness and evidence, and formed a sky scan group. They continue to seek evidence that would explain these strange happenings.
